Why the World Needs You To Write Your Book

I've spoken to dozens of authors in the last couple of months who have declared, "This is going to be the year I write my book!"

I think that's awesome - but not for the reasons that immediately come to mind. Yes, a book will help to boost your business. It can be a killer lead magnet, a way to expose your work to a global audience, and a way to establish your expert status in your niche. A well-executed book makes you look like a superstar.

But although those are all great reasons to write a book, that's not why I think you should do it, and do it now.

The world, more than ever, needs positive, uplifting, transformational words and messages. Recent events have proven, to many of us, that we cannot trust our elected officials, news media, or celebrity influencers to provide the kind of positive growth we know is necessary to our continued existence.

Books are magical!

Books are magical!

If we want to create positive change in the world, it has to come from us: from our thoughts, our actions, and our words.

Real change happens from the inside out. A well-crafted book, delivered with intention, heart, and clarity, can spark an inner cascade of change in a reader that causes her to show up differently in the world.

How many of you out there can point to the book that changed your world? I can think of several. Absent any single one of those books, I would be a different person today. I might not even be doing the work I do. I changed, grew, and expanded as a person as a direct result of the words I read in books.

That's the real reason why 2017 is the year you should write your inspirational, personal development, or self-help book. The world needs you. People need to hear your messages of love, acceptance, faith, and hope. They need to hear your stories of surviving and thriving in the face of insurmountable odds. They need to believe in the possibility of resolution for their most pressing problems and concerns. They need to feel like there is still hope, joy, light, and love to be found in a world that feels incredibly dark and threatening right now.

So, HeartWriter, I implore you: write your book. Use your words like the powerful magic wands they are, and bless your readers with the wisdom that only you can share.

Happy writing!
