Tess Bird has worked closely with academics, business owners, authors, and artists on various writing and editing projects since 2005. She has a BA (Honors, 2008) in gender studies and creative writing from the University of Connecticut, and a MSc. (Distinction, 2012) in medical anthropology from the University of Oxford. 

After receiving extensive training as a writing tutor at the University of Connecticut, Tess developed an innovative creative writing tutoring program that was adapted by the university's writing center over the next four years. Tess has since worked professionally as a medical-legal writer and editor for a litigation consulting company, an editor for an online social medicine portal, and as a writing and design consultant for a global-health non-profit. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Oxford in the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology where she researches health and well-being in the home.
